Reminds me of a story told by a friend who was in a monastery/convent where monks and nuns lived separately but came together for work, prayers, meditation, etc. At one point, one of the nuns left to get married. When that relationship fell apart a few years later, she returned to the convent where the other nuns were incensed that she dared to show herself having once left. But she wisely replied, "Do you expect me to worship my mistakes?"

The best reply I've ever heard!

"We must forgive ourselves. We must seek to become better and to learn."

And seek forgiveness from those who may have been hurt by our mistakes, which often times is harder to do. Doing so helps us move forward.

Well done, Alexander.

Target fixation is likely the cause for any attempt to avoid mistakes. People just need to remember we are human, imperfect and prone to mistakes. Proofread to solve in any situation.

Some to err is to be human. If you really want to foul things up, use a computer. Garbage in, garbage out. My Dad taught us, Experience is a Dear school but fools will learn in none other. Hence my curiosity. When I need to make 12 parts, I make 13 or 14, just in case my human side makes a mistake.

Nicely stated, Alex, as always! My latest fiction piece on Substack called "Parts" actually deals with self-forgiveness. It's sad that, no matter if we follow the rubrics of self-forgiveness (such as seeking forgiveness from others, and also Catholics attending the Sacrament of Reconciliation), it can be quite hard to really and truly understand that God forgives us, and if he can do that, surely we can forgive ourselves.

Honestly stating, Alexander, I commit the similar or same mistakes of certain nature every now and then and do gain some insights, but my complete realization of mistakes and learning from them is still a flat curve. However, I am attempting to be more cautious and careful but with lesser success. ;-)

Thank you for this reminder. I need this encouragement so much. I have an inner critic (he is Javert from Les Miserables) that 'tries' to keep me on the straight and narrow. Ha! Mostly he's trying to ruin me and make me believe lies, and I must attempt to trick him by what often feels like throwing caution to the wind and trying anyhow. Fear of failure is so paralyzing!

I know how that feels! Just have to power thought it with faith!

If we look at this in a different perspective, We are all perfect in God's sight. Perfectly suited to perform the task that God intended us to fulfill in the way He intended us to fulfill it. The results are perfect in His sight as they conform perfectly with the laws He set down before the foundation of the world. So in that sense everything is just perfect. If we disagree, where does our opinion have bearing on the perfection of God's Creation? Job found this out in the latter part of his story. It requires us to ask God to help us to rightly perceive the truth regarding His Works.

Hello, my sweet soul brother. I don’t believe in a thing called mistakes however… We do make choices that are not based in Love, and that is what we tend to identify as a mistake. They are there for the purpose of helping us see more clearly, helping us to remember the Love we are. As Christ has communicated clearly with me, everything is always in perfect order. This can be extremely difficult to accept however, it is so. Humans can only do one of two things, we can express Love or we can call for Love. Any unloving behavior is a call for Love. Our challenge is to not add pain to pain. Only Love heals. Forgiveness is such a powerful choice… mandatory for us to feel illuminated. I am so grateful you exist! 💫

Many of our mistakes are based on assumptions from guessing. Reasoning is a better approach.
