We are here to learn, and we also make mistakes. They are related. Great post, and I have not met any person on Earth who could not benefit from this compassionate message. Our limits also inform us of when we have done enough, or our best. It's a humbling message, but also one with strength and wisdom. Thank you.

I think feeling aware of our limitations isn't guilt, it's shame. Guilt is about transgression, shame is feeling deficient, inferior, exposed to others or ourselves.

I am my worst critic. I expect too much of myself and feel guilty when not accomplished but I am working on this.

I know how that feels, working on it also!

“You must understand that you are not God. You are a human.”

Such profound words and a perfect reminder that I am human and limited. Thanks for the reminder to give ourselves grace.

Always an interesting subject! Guilt and shame are a special interest professionally for me, so it's interesting that shame has been mentioned alongside guilt in the comments. You're so right, there's unnecessary guilt and guilt from wrongdoing just as there is oppressive shame and shame because of transgressing morals. Love the way you sum these things up Alex

As long as you view yourSelf through the ego and only egos judge, you will identify with guilt. It is all myth and superstition. Belief makes it real. Look closely at the Garden of Eden before the ego snake offered judgment as a path to Nirvana. Guilt appeared after the snake. Guilt is a mirage, an illusion, and forgiveness of yourSelf for buying it is where to begin.
