I am convinced that God gives hugs - but in my experience you need to connect and be open for that to happen.

"Maybe because I feel that hug every time I say ‘I love You!"

Oh wow! You write so beautifully it got goosebumps on my body, Nevena. I kinda feel guilty as if I'm the reason God doesn't hug me.

Maybe he does but I don't pay attention. You definitely left me with a thought. I will take my time to process connecting with God more deeply. Thank you for this lesson.

Hi, Jessey, the last thing you should feel is guilty. That’s not what I wanted to instill with this post. Because, yes, God is happy when He gets more of your attention, but it might not be aimed directly at Him. Paying attention to the people around you, giving love and support, and being a loving person in general, is a also a hug you’re giving Him. I have period when I can’t pray, when I lost my ‘direct’ connection with God, but I’ve learned not to feel guilty about that. At moments like these, I just look around and give to others what I can’t give Him right now. And I know He’s happy. :)

This is so touching. That lonely feeling and sadness is so relatable, especially at night sometimes. I hope you continue to feel God's hug/love and hear his laughter. :)

Very nice, and very true! The one thing God cannot command from us is our love, which must be given freely.

And with what you wrote here, I think you'll appreciate this account that I wrote up on my Substack (which is in two parts): https://kiranblackwell.substack.com/p/a-matter-of-the-heart-part-1?r=2pm8fx

I have also found that if you spend time with God, he will return the kindness. I found this out the hard way. A friend of mine asked me to pray for her nephew. He was a month old and needed a heart transplant. I wasn't big on praying but she was an old friend so twice a day I pray for God to help him. After about four months in the hospital, he will be going home soon. I will never know if it was because I still pray for him twice a day or because God wanted me to also talk to him about my daily life. God has helped me calm my soul and I needed that more than anything. My wife even noticed I don't "run down a rabbit hole during a discussion" anymore. I find that a calm soul and a good heart is nice to have. I still occasionally "dance next to the rabbit hole" but sometimes it is easier just to say, "your right" and walk away. Sometimes only you need to know how you feel.

A wonderful experience, Paul. Yes, prayers for other help us, too, as they bring us closer to God. They make us cleaner….❤️

I love this! Yes, we are spoiled brats, aren’t we? I need this! I want that! Why God? Trust me. I understand and can relate. God wants us to delight in Him every day. The more that we embrace Him, the closer He gets to us and the less “me, me, me”.
