Ok, here's my haiku for this challenge.

When life is too much

Instead of pushing harder

Close your eyes and rest

One child has green, the other has hazel. Neither carry my dark brown, the color I inherited from my grandmother.

They adorn wisps of my DNA,

Through wavy hair or dimpled smiles.

I am reminded though that through their eyes, the color of a summer river, that their vision is their own.

I cherish and fear, in equal measure, letting go.

Dark blue, curious,

Just like mine in this small face,

With his dad’s lashes.

the closing eyes of the Earth;

yet still there is light.

Your poem is beautiful! There are so many beautiful ones here.

Through eyes like windows

Screens stare deeply into souls

Glazed stare is returned

Thanks for the prompt!
