God is your employer
Hey friends,
Really felt a strong push to write this today as thoughts about it swirled around my head.
Jesus teaches us that we cannot serve two masters. It seems like an obvious teaching, but it’s actually extremely deep and complex. I wrote one about “love” of money recently and covered that aspect, but we know that apostles and later church fathers go in depth discussing the aspect of treating your employer as if you’re working for God. Many people get confused with this teaching, but I think I can simplify it. It makes perfect sense.
First, let’s go back again and think about “You cannot serve two masters.”
Then let’s go and look at “Do unto others the way you’d like done unto you.”
Lastly let’s see “Love thy neighbor.”
These three essential teachings draw up a very clear picture for us.
Whatever industry you are in, whatever job you are doing, you can always ask yourself;
“Is what I’m doing an example of loving my neighbor?”
“Is what I’m doing something I’d like done upon myself?”
“Is what I’m doing deviating from serving and respecting God?”
Your answers to this will draw a very clear picture as to the question about God being your employer or not.
I hope this made sense. I wanted to be short and clear. I will include this on my podcast this week as well.
Blessings.

Bon lecon, d'ailleurs I think we should treat God as higher than an employer, though that said we artists and writers are kind of in a way directly employed by him and thus owe even greater allegiance to him to my mind. Good article.
Beautifully summarized and touches on something a lot of Christians think about and struggle with on a daily basis. Good for you for packing this one up so nicely
