Assassination attempt and treating only the symptoms
Hey friends and readers,
As I just finished watching the Euro final and watched the cheer and joy that was going around the winning team’s fans, I had one thought.
How nice it is that we can have these moments of joy, in the society that is so troubled.
Because, once that moment wears off, the people will still have the bills to pay, food to buy, scramble for work and money.
The tougher the situation gets, the more negativity comes forward.
And the people start looking for saviors, yet without realizing that there are only two places they should look at.
God and yourself. Trusting God and improving yourself is the first step to fixing the sickness in society.
As with diseased body and mind, often only symptoms are treated.
Temporary fixes. Pauses. Not real change. Not real solutions.
As we see an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, we also see some very disturbing reactions, but also some reactions that call for all to calm down and to be reasonable, to stop the hate, but for how long?
Fact is, in a few days we will be where we were before this shooting. Society that is filled with anger, hate, and violence. Society that looks for saviors in all the wrong places.
Anger, corruption and hate has lead us to this point, where someone actually tries to kill a candidate.
However, this has been building for a long time.
There have been horrific school shootings. Children brutally murdered by evil madmen. Madmen who are the product of this society, who are part of this sickness.
The violence in the cities, the riots, medical malpractices, the lies, the hate you see on TV, movies that glorify violence, government doing injustice upon us.
Yet, the government comes from the people…it’s part of the sickness.
Many of us have also become completely desensitized to thousands of kids dying in wars, or starving to death.
In our Christian society today we often hear “they are in another country, far away, it doesn’t matter.”
Are we going to change?
So, what are we doing now? Right after the assassination attempt? Well, we point fingers, and no one likes to be accused, so therefore, we will be back to the same cycle.
The root cause of this problem is how each individual looks at themselves, and in this age, the ego is bigger than ever.
It is so hard for us to say;
“It’s me, I’m the problem, I will do better.”
No matter who you are!
Imagine if every person right now did that. Imagine if every person right now pledged to be better and to improve.
To trust in God and to work on yourself.
How else can we truly combat the sickness in society?
It starts in each home. First we fix ourselves, then our family becomes strong, then our community, then our city, then our country.
Blessings.
Thanks Alexander, your post is basically a psychological analysis of society and speaks of one of the most dangerous things facing the world: fear, despair and hopelessness always give rise to the discourse of populist saviours, who are often idealised by those who are suffering. In an all-or-nothing society, anything goes
One of the best essays I've read since Saturday. Thank you Alex. God Bless you and your family always. ox
